July 2, still a go!

It might be rainy.. but bring some dry clothes, because we are a go. Games are on as scheduled.

Draft Completed - Teams Set

Well.. it might have been delayed a day or two, but after two and a half hours, all 100 players have been drafted onto six teams. Looking over the teams, it appears that this will be a very even league. I am excited to see all 6 teams battle it out for the championship.

To view the list of teams, simple click here. Or, if you login to the website, you should see your teammates listed on the right hand side of the page. I will add more functionality for teammates to interact with one another as the days progress.

Summer League Registration Over

Registration for summer league 2008 has officially closed. You can still login to pay or complete your profile, but that must be completed by tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon. The draft has been delayed. Once all captains have been notified, and the draft has been completed, I will post more information about teams. For now, just plan on being at Bear Creek on Wednesday!

League Update

So far we are well above where we were last year at this time. I am excited about where this league is going. Advertising is going well. Facebook is turning out to be my best resource. There have been many registrants from these ads. The fliers have been printed and I will be handing them out at every pickup game.

Keep recruiting. The new recruitment program seems to be working well. There have been several registrants who have selected recruiters. Keep recruiting and keep earning yourself cash!

I am new, what should I do?

The most obvious answer is to play! Pickup is a great place to obtain knowledge of the game, strategy, and throws. The environment is friendly, and the people are willing to teach.

Secondly, sign up for league! Summer League is a great place to gain skill. Since you play with the same team week after week, there is a certain amount of team bonding which always helps in learning the sport.

To make the answer short, if you are willing to put in the effort to play and learn, others are always willing to teach!

What is the league, how does it work... ?

The Colorado Springs Ultimate Summer League is an individual based league. Basically, this means that you register as an individual and drafted onto a team. Over the last few years, the league has had over 100 participants, comprising 6 teams. These six teams will play each other (usually twice). An up-to-date ranking is kept right here on the website. At the end of the year, there is a tournament. Lasting all day, it is quite an event.

I have to miss a lot of league games. What can I do?

Summer is a busy time, and vacations are always fun. If you know ahead of time that you will be missing league games, please be sure to note this in your 'bio' section upon registration. You will still be required to pay the full registration fee as you will still receive all of the benefits -- disc, shirt, and party. Sorry for the bad news, but there is really no way around it.

What is the club team?

Ultimate is played on a variety of different levels. Strictly speaking, there are three major divisions: youth, college, and club. The club division is sub-divided into the open, womens, mixed, and masters divisions. For many years, Colorado Springs has had a mixed club team. There have been many teams throughout the years, but "Pira Haku", "Akimbo", and "F.U.N" are the most notable. Most of the recruiting for these leagues takes place on the forum, at pickup, or league.

What is SpringsUltimate?

SpringsUltimate, aka CSUN (Colorado Springs Ultimate Network), is a volunteer-run organization meant to provided quality Ultimate to the Colorado Springs area - by sanctioning pickup games, uniting players for club teams, and proving leagues for all to enjoy. All profit from leagues goes directly back to the community. Simply put, CSUN is an organization run by the community for the community.

Summer League Registration Open

After a bit of a redesign and rework of the signup process, Summer League registration is finally open! There are some new things this year, so be sure to read all the details. I am really excited about this year's league. The location has been moved in-city to Bear Creek park. Hopefully this move with give more people an easier chance to play. There is also a new recruitment program to encourage recruitment.
